Mu On Mo #52 – Exordium & Terminus

December 24, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Yes, coming to you (every ?) Monday throughout the entirety of 2012 (with some co-operation from YouTube) will be some familiar songs.

While others, whether because of the relative unknownness of the artist or possibly your musical tastes, will be a new experience.

…51 weeks ago, that’s how it all started but now that’s all about to end.

Hello there & welcome to the last week of this year long Mu On Mo.

Yeah, too bad but there’s just no more weeks left in 2012.

But for 51 straight weeks, it did come to you on each & every monday, which is something I was never sure of.

Because while not typical for its entirety, there were a lot of mondays where I just had no idea what to do next.

Looking back, it’s clear there’s 2 Mu On Mo’s.

There’s the 1st part which was planned & revolved around monthly themes & then there’s the 2nd part, which was more personal on an emotional level & could change a lot from week to week.

Now, the monthly themes weren’t dropped in favour of this other more spontaneous approach.

For better or worse, that’s just how it developed along the way.

Anyhoo, the end…

The first ever Mu On Mo had a song which symbolized the start of the musical journey by going up in a balloon.

With that journey nearly at an end, it’s only fitting it should end in a place which lies not in the sky & fits with the apocalyptic theme.

In fact, check out last week’s entry’s title for a major HINT of this week’s song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“You are fantastic!”

I know that comment was aimed at the person singing in the music vid but you know what ?

For pulling this off & a lot more, I am fantastic !

& so was Mu On Mo…

From 2012 itself, that was Taylor Ferrera – I Wanna Go To Hell!.

Now, this is where I end with “See you another time for more Music On Monday ? …that’s if we’re still around.” but this being the actual end… well, I dunno if that song or any of the past 51 songs for that matter ever soothed a single soul but there you go & thanks to everyone who suggested songs !

Ladies & gentlemen, Music On Monday.

Mu On Mo #51 – Highway To Hell

December 17, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Snow, presents, decorations.

All ways to tell the most wonderful time of the year is near.

Except here.

Hello & welcome to this penultimate Mu On Mo.

My mom &… her husband have another tradition.

Every year around this time they have an awful fight.

It can even involve the local law inforcement but that’s only on very special occasions.

Very recently, I had the good fortune to witness a lil’ bit of their yearly drama.

Afterwards, when… her husband had left, she said the folowing sentence…

“God, if you really exists, perform a miracle & see to it this bastard never returns !”

This & their recurring love & understanding are quite funny, especially around this this time of the year, as they both see themselves as Christians.

Which reminds me of a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“OMG i just adore potatoes”

I know, right ? 😀

Roasted, mashed, boile …wait what ?

Anyhoo, enjoy this apt song…

For all dysfunctional yet devout birds of a feather, that was Pet Shop Boys – It’s A Sin.

See you 1 more time for a lil’ more Music On Monday ?

…that’s if we’re still around after December 21st O_O

Mu On Mo #50 – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

December 10, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Sometime ago, I was on this train.

& there, sitting in front of me, was another person.

Who asked me a question.

“What topics will your blog deal with in the new year ?”

The answer to that, of course, is… none.

Apocalypse.

Buuuttttt, if I had to guess I suppose there would’ve been more.

Yes, both more of the same & more new stuff too.

Perhaps even Lou Ferrigno pics.

Still amazes me so many people (all looking for his pics) end up here where there are none to find.

I wonder, could they all be a lil’ …you-know-what ??? O_O

Hm, that reminds me of a fun song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“Great, and sadly overlooked song, from the Seventies….Very clever…What would the neighbors think?? Great line…”

2 guys doing stuff together.

What WOULD the neighbours think ?

Enjoy, you know you want to…

Fixing him a drink, that was Jim Stafford – My Girl Bill.

Mu On Mo #49 – The Beginning Of The End

December 3, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Here we are then.

December 2012.

The Apocalypse.

Hello & welcome to 1 of the final remaining mondays.

I’m not quite sure yet how I feel about it all ending, really.

However, like with some previous months, I’d like there to be a theme for this last 1, namely…

Fun.

As long as I like it, anything goes.

Today a fun song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“Think if they could make music like this these days. People would be happier I think. You feel good when you listen to this.”

I hope so.

…but having gotten to know Humanity through this web log these last few years, they’d probably brand it “gay”, “socialist” or “Muslim”.

There’s something seriously wrong with a lot of people, glad it’s almost over…

Rama lama ding dong forever, that was Barry Mann – Who Put The Bomp (In The Bomp, Bomp, Bomp).

Mu On Mo #48 – Use Your Allusion

November 26, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

It’s dark, cold & wet.

& that news the other day kinda sucked.

But despite all that & the other things, I’m in a good mood.

Hello & welcome to another Mu On Mo.

Yeah, it’s creeping ever closer & working its dark magic already.

But it’s not here quite yet, so there’s still time for such things as questions, thoughts & faith.

So, to you 1st I ask about where trust is.

But then to you 2nd I wonder why silence during pain.

& finally to you 3rd I hope we might still remain in some form.

I guess time will tell.

But then again, nothing lasts forever.

Which reminds me of a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“SIMPLY the best 9 minutes moments of my life……”

o_O

Ewwwwwwwwwwww… oh, you meant the song ???

For a second there, I thought you meant you were talking about you-know-what…

Ending the month contrary to my feelings, that was Guns N’ Roses – November Rain.

Mu On Mo #47 – Alors, La Musique Sur Le Lundi

November 19, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Ah, bonjour mes amis et bienvenue !

Alors, un coeur brisé ?

Je ne sais pas mais c’est fragile, n’est-ce pas ?

…wait what ???

Well, that was pretty weird.

Anyhoo, today a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“je comprend pas pourquoi ils courent …”

Well, I think it’s cuz…

…uh, I mean “what ? Speak English !”.

Myes…

For some of the craziest people with thanks to “Ziz”, that was Gaëtan Roussel – Dis-Moi Encore Que Tu M’aimes.

Mu On Mo #46 – The Wall… & Beyond… & Beyond… & Beyond…

November 12, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

At some point it happens.

That moment where you hit a wall.

& you’re stopped dead in your tracks.

Hello, welcome to Mu On Mo.

I’ve been ill these past few days.

Think I ate something that didn’t agree with me.

Feeling kinda tired too.

So, this today… not exactly what I wanted to do.

However, it’s a good example of a wall.

As I type all this, I’m finding fun in all of it in a distracting sort of manner.

So, now all I need is something to reach me & help me breakthrough.

Something like the song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“if I could make you smile <3"

Oh, but you did !

That & sooo much more.

Thank you guys, thank you Freddie, Brian, John & Roger…

Cracking the wall, that was the always fantastic Queen – Breakthru.

See you another time for more Music On Monday ?

…that’s after I’m better, I hope.

Mu On Mo #45 – At Twilight’s Last Gleaming

November 5, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Mr President ?

I know you’re there, I mean how could you not read this blog ?

Anyhoo, I have something I want to say.

It’s about the election.

The country’s divided along party & ideological lines like never before.

It looks bad.

In such a polarised socio-political climate, I’ll wish any victor the best of luck.

But this is not about that.

It’s about you losing.

Cuz there’s a chance of that now.

So, if for some reason, whatever the reason, you fail to win.

& don’t get re-elected, I just want to say…

…it’s ok, Mr President.

Cuz while some mockingly called you a Messiah & others gladly believed it, you’ve never been more than a man who did nevertheless perform certain miracles.

You worked hard, Mr President, so so hard & it shows in your tired face & greying hair.

So, should you lose… it’s ok.

You achieved & for that you’ll be reviled by your foes & remembered fondly by your supporters.

But just between the 2 of us, kick Mittens’ white ass as you listen to a patriotic song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“My God hearing her voice is like listening to an angel! She is was truly blessed with a great talent!”

?

& just how do you know how the voice of mythical being sounds like, hmmm ???

Anyhoo, here comes the talent…

For the election, that was Whitney Houston – The Battle Hymn Of The Republic.

Mu On Mo #44 – A Limited Engagement

October 29, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Once upon a time… there was a young princess.

Instead of going to sleep, she loved to stay up late & play with her toys.

However, this was the time when it was most unsafe.

For it was then that the Night People appeared.

They were always in search of those young & innocent.

& while she’d been warned of the danger, the Princess was headstrong & thus, instead of sleeping, she continued to play every night.

& so they passed, 1 fun night after another.

But, although enjoying herself, the princess couldn’t help but slowly wonder more & more why she’d not come to harm.

Until 1 night, when she couldn’t stand her own curiosity any longer, she put her toys down, got up & walked to the large window of her bedroom.

Nervously opening it, she looked out into the cold night & softly spoke her question.

“Hear me, Night People. If you are real, why have you spared me all this time ?”

Her heart then skipped a beat when unseen voices suddenly answered her in unison.

“pRiNcEsS, yOu CaNnOt Be ToUcHeD iN AnY wAy Or FoRm, FoR yOu ArE pRoTeCtEd.”

Overcome by fear, she quickly closed the window & stepped away from it.

“This… isn’t really happening,” she said to herself.

Again the unseen voices spoke to her, just as clear as she’d heard them before.

“iT’s YoUr ToYs, ThE HaPpiNeSs ThEy BrInG yOu KeEpS uS aT bAy. It’S a BoNd We CaNnOt BrEaK, pRiNcEsS.”

While still feeling fear, the princess was puzzled by this.

“Bond ? You speak as though they were my friends. While great fun, they are but mere toys,” she said.

Following that, the unseen voices spoke no more.

The hours passed slowly until night finally turned into day when morning arrived… in an empty bedroom, filled with nothing but mere toys.

“This song gives me the chills… Big time…”

Really ?

Despite its title, it’s not scary, you know ?

But it IS a perfect song to close October with…

For Halloween, that was Katy B – Witches’ Brew.

See you another time for more creepy horror stories ?

…that’s if unseen voices let us !

Mu On Mo #43 – Full Of Sound & Fury

October 22, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Got some advice recently.

From a friend who told me the following…

A tale told by an idiot, signifies nothing !

This is totally & utterly true.

& therefore, it’s pointless trying to find any worth in such tales.

As I’m most grateful for this sound advice, here’s a song that goes with that IMO & it got the following comment on YouTube…

“DON’T YOU FORGET!!!”

I’ll try 🙂

Probably hard with so many idiots around.

But I’ll try, my friend, I’ll try & thank you…

From the full of sounds 80’s, that was Talk Talk – It’s My Life.

Mu On Mo #42 – Post-Illusion Lies The Connection

October 15, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hello there, I’m half-asleep as I type this but for this week’s entry, I’d like to talk about something personal.

Something that’s been going on for some time now… trouble.

Something of a strained relationship between my oldest friend & me.

Take yesterday, for example.

We had a phonecall & in some ways, it seemed (IMO) to be the latest chapter of this longrunning anti-saga.

Until, sometime later, it happened.

My friend mentioned having been emotionally down a while ago.

This info being new/unknown to me, it led to all sorts of wondering on my part.

Which meant that the background feeling of conflict disappeared like an illusion of sorts & left only the important part & that (along with other reasons) makes it go well with a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“Who said it was a kids song?”

Hm, while there’s nothing wrong with that if it were 1, that’s so not the case.

This song has nothing to hide, in fact it’s probably magic.

To the lovers, my friend & me…

From a special place, that was Kermit The Frog – Rainbow Connection.

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

It’s cold outside.

There’s no kind of atmosphere.

I’m all alone, more or less…

No, not how I’m doing.

But rather lyrics.

About a mutated cat, a mechanoid, a hologram & the last remaining human.

Oh sure, there’s still terrorists, Republicans & other sick people out there.

But gosh darnit, I feel happy !

& with that goes a crazy song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“The King of the potatoe people demanded I watch this!”

Potato people, you say ?

Myes… myes… *strokes chin*

Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast…

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

October.

That means 8th month… wait what ?!?

Anyhoo, with this comes the end of Summer & the start of Autumn.

Rainier days.

Darker days.

Colder days.

Streets full of brown/yellow leaves.

Radio broadcasts by Orson Welles telling of fire, death & destruction.

The ensuing panic reminds me of a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“My mother’s funeral song..

She’s not dead yet, it just makes me think about how much i appreciate her.”

…um, ok.

Normally, I’d advice you to get your mental health checked but kinda busy now.

Hiding from 3-legged alien fighting machines…

Mu On Mo #39 – Now It’s Time To Say Good Night

September 24, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

…so, that bad time I went through ?

Going by feelings …still sorta kinda here.

It’s not around as often as before but still intense when it is.

I coped by lots & lots of diversion.

I coped by just letting it be.

I coped by friends.

It was hard to tell them, especially since reactions of total strangers (yes, I bothered those too), while diverse, weren’t all very positive.

Going by what most such others told me, it’s “creepy”, “weird”, “gay”, “pervy”, “worrying”, etc etc etc.

Being judged by other people’s standards when you’re emotionally drowning = not a big help.

Anyhoo, I got by with a lil’ help from my friends.

& since this whole thing’s been (directly & indirectly) about things like friendship & feelings of, I figured I’d use that today & thus end September with a certain song.

A song that not only reflects on such themes but also a song that marks the 4th part of a certain unofficial long running Mu On Mo theme (see Mu On Mu #02, #09 & #27) & a song that got the following (partial) comment on YouTube…

“…but one thing you can’t judge is love…”

I wish that were true, as lots of people have done just that throughout history.

Which is weird cuz love (whether platonic or romantic), is something we all want & all you need.

Enjoy…

From 2003, that was Ringo Starr – Never Without You.

Mu On Mo #38 – In A World Filled With The Likes Of You

September 17, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Muslims…

Jews…

Christians…

I really really really like how they all are better than all the non-believers.

Always showing that positive side of their beliefs.

How following apparently divine morals leads them to never being judgemental or violent but openminded & forgiving.

But mostly, it’s the obvious love they have for their fellow man that I can’t help but admire.

…myes.

This brings me to a song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“I love the vibe of this song. Very creepy and manipulative. Love it!”

Yeah, almost… strange even.

The total opposite of religion, of course.

Enjoy…

From the 60s, that was The Doors – People Are Strange.

Mu On Mo #37 – Nats In Ahgfa

September 10, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Was this really happening ?

Still dealing with emotional fallout of recent events, I got an invite.

It was for a presentation of a new horror comicbook featuring a story drawn by a friend.

It would happen with or without me.

I was supposed to meet up with my friend’s cousin to travel to this event together.

As he & his wife are busy busy busy, he wanted an earlier time than my current sleeping pattern allowed for.

What about what I want ?

So, we agreed I’d phone him ASAP after arriving there on my own.

In the early hours of that day, still awake, I found myself unmotivated to get started in any way.

Maybe I should’ve made an effort & said something.

By the time I arrived, it was 2 in the afternoon.

Unsure where my friend or his presentation was, I began to look around.

Was it always like this ?

The event was in full swing & there were lots of happy people around.

Looking, buying, sitting, eating, laughing, cosplaying, talking people.

Or am I deluding myself into beliefs ?

Despite this chaos of fun, I suddenly had a good idea where my friend might be & so finding him was easy after all.

Sitting behind a table at a booth with his bestie (the writer of this horror comic), he was drawing something.

Was this really happening ?

1 brief convo later, holding a complimentary horror comic in my hand, I mustered up whatever interest I had & looked around the various other booths there.

Suffice to say, I left pretty quickly thereafter & it was then I decided to take a taxicab back home.

The driver, a moustached fellow, was an Afghani somewhere in his late 50s.

About 5 minutes into an uneventful mostly quiet ride, he suddenly turned to me…

“Broken” but understandble, he asked me a question… Thé Question…

“How are you ?”

There was something quite unreal about having a man who’d studied economy, fled his war-torn country & now was trying to make ends meet as a taxi driver ask me such a question.

Which brings me to the song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“To me, this kind of feels like somebody who’s witnessed something horrible, and is trying to make it go away simply by effort of will. ‘I’m not here… This isn’t happening.’ Somebody in denial.”

This isn’t happening.

This isn’t happening.

Why so serious ?

Let’s put a smile on that face !

There’s an intense scene in “The Dark Knight” where The Joker says those 2 lines.

Well, after last week’s confession of sadness, I figured the opposite was needed.

Something fun !

This in the form of today’s song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“This video is great. I laugh everytime I watch it”

Indeed, so have I.

Major thanks to “AP” for linking me to it.

Why so serious indeed…

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Ok, let’s do this.

Last week (Monday 20th – Sunday 26) ?

Not very good 😦

I felt… bad, like seriously.

Didn’t eat well, slept worse & I must’ve cried like 16 times O_O

Came verrry close to phoning/e-mailing friends & telling them all about the details pounding my emotions.

However, I did not.

Which is ironic as last week’s Mu On Mo entry was on friendship.

I might still do a reveal of sorts but at the time, I had no idea how to tell them.

Also, I’d hoped it wasn’t as serious (it was).

Or that I’d find enough distraction to let time pass (not really).

Anyhoo, this… “Week From Hell” seems to be at an end (for now ?).

In a way I feel better & in another way, I feel worse.

I’d like to think whatever’s left, that it too shall pass.

Maybe not right away but eventually (?) & since I’ve made it sofar… well, here’s a song about just that, which got the following comment on YouTube…

“Comments are disabled for this video.”

I see.

Maybe no YouTube comments are needed.

I sorta kinda said what I wanted to, except, thanks Reginald & Bernie…

Random day.

Certain place.

Sudden encounter.

Strangers ?

Lots & lots of questions.

Friends !

Sharing ideas.

Telling humour.

Having trust.

In Life, you meet many people.

& out of all of those, without warning, 1 will stand out.

Unfortunately, such a person cannot feel how Happy you are for knowing them.

Thankfully, you can always try to tell them.

So, if you’re reading this… yeah, you’re important to me.

& here’s a song about that, which got the following comment on YouTube…

“growing old sucks.”

I couldn’t disagree more.

Once upon a time…

…there was an awesome web log.

It had wonderful updates & yes, you guessed it by now, that blog…

…was not this blog.

Despite that sudden harsh break, the reason for that fairytale-esque intro is me recently having listened to a different kind of Dubstep music.

The video, which reminded me of far away kingdoms, ice castles & princesses, got the following comment on YouTube…

“Now if only all dubstep was like that…”

Whaaaat ? No way !

If all Dubstep music was like that, it would get sooo boring.

So, enjoy this fairytale while it lasts because copycats will no doubt emerge…

With major thanks to “Ziz” for linking me to the song, that was Lindsey Stirling – Crystallize.
