Mu On Mo #26 – STOP ! …Explicit Content Sticker Time !

June 25, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hey, welcome to the 4th & final part of this Rap themed Mu On Mo.

Ok kids, this is where it gets complicated.

…because I have no idea how to finish this up.

Simple brief recap: Rap began as a fun party type of thing, got a deeper meaning, changed its look & finally achieved mainstream success.

Then the 90s happened & nothing was ever the same… again.

Because Gangsta Rap reared its (arguably) ugly head & just like those in-laws you hate so much, it never went away.

Suddenly, superficial explicit thangs like pimps, hoes, bitches, guns, benjamins, & (of course) niggas became Thé things to say.

& said they were, over & over & over & over & over again but that’s ok y’all, cuz it b kool, yo !

Weeelllll, I’ve thought about this for some time now & I don’t think I want to go there & yet how can I ignore the 90s period of Rap which has come to define so much ???

Dammit, I just feel so lost now.

I wish there was someone to tell me what to do.

Someone like… rapper Ice-T !!!

“The true origin of Rap is counterculture. The true origin of Rap is say something that they’re not saying on the radio. So when you kind of blend into what popular culture is doing, you’re losing the power of hip hop. We’ve got to keep rocking the boat.”

“If you’re just going to rap about “I got money and we balling” & all that, you’re not doing with it what it was meant to do. It’s meant to rock a party but it was meant to change the world.”

Wait, what’s that you say… counterculture ? Not on the radio ?? & pop culture = loss of hip hop ???

Oh, irony of ironies ! Rap has become exactly that which destroys it, popular culture for the masses on the radio.

So, what Ice-T was telling me is that I need an atypical, alternative 90s Rap song very much like the one that got the following comment on YouTube…

“Where can i find the full video 4 this song? smh”

W-w-whaaaaat ?

YouTube doesn’t have it, how is that even possible ??

Oh, well that’s just great, now what am I supposed to do ???

From the 90s on Dailymotion, that was Skee-Lo – I Wish.

See you dawgs another time for mo’ Music On Monday ?

…that’s if we’re still around.

Yesterday, When I Was Mad…

June 19, 2012

As I type this, I really really reaaally should be asleep.

Dreaming of… well, whatever it is my subconcious wants.

Instead, I was reading *gasp !* other people’s blogs !!!

As I did that, it suddenly dawned on me all these people were crazy.

Not MUAHAHAHA-Must-Destroy-Obama-crazy but crazy nonetheless.

How so ?

Well, in the sense that they all lurve writing.

Whether it was because they felt a deep need to share their “funny” thoughts or had to write personal stuff down as it provided a calming effect on their inner state of mind, they all claimed to absolutely love it.

Something that’s odd to me as I personally dislike writing.

Seriously.

Never ever in a million trillion zillion years did I think: “must write about topic X & share it with Mankind, wheee !”.

& I still don’t.

This is ironic since this whole web log thingie exists & a new (this) post will be added soon.

So, who’s crazy now ?

Well… they all are, obviously.

There’s Some Really Sick People In This Town #5

February 18, 2009

Welcome to another instalment of this irregular series of posts about that other side of humanity.

Once upon a time…

There was a nice man who lived in America called Muzzammil Hassan.

(Yes, he is muslim but that’s not really relevant)

He was so nice that when his wife, Aasiya Hassan, asked for a divorce because of physical abuse he murdered her by beheading her.

(Yes, she was muslim as well but again not really relevant)

So, not a very nice man after all, right ?

Welllll, he used to be.

Back in 2004 he was part of the effort to launch “Bridges TV”, the 1st English spoken muslim TV channel for North America.

See ? That was quite nice.

Bridges TV came about because following the events of September 2001 there was an increasing focus on fanatical/stereotypical Islam in US media.

The idea was to counter this with a more accurate portrayal.

Here’s a quote by the CEO of the channel:

Bridges TV gives American muslims a voice & will depict them in everyday, real life situations.”

Makes one wonder why Muzzammil Hassan couldn’t have been more like that nice CEO ?

they’re one & the same 😯

(Now that part really IS relevant but unfortunately many won’t see it that way)

& just in case you think I made it all up, here’s the despicable link o’ truth.
