Mu On Mo #43 – Full Of Sound & Fury

October 22, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Got some advice recently.

From a friend who told me the following…

A tale told by an idiot, signifies nothing !

This is totally & utterly true.

& therefore, it’s pointless trying to find any worth in such tales.

As I’m most grateful for this sound advice, here’s a song that goes with that IMO & it got the following comment on YouTube…

“DON’T YOU FORGET!!!”

I’ll try 🙂

Probably hard with so many idiots around.

But I’ll try, my friend, I’ll try & thank you…

From the full of sounds 80’s, that was Talk Talk – It’s My Life.

See you another time for more Music On Monday ?

…that’s if we remember.

Mu On Mo #42 – Post-Illusion Lies The Connection

October 15, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hello there, I’m half-asleep as I type this but for this week’s entry, I’d like to talk about something personal.

Something that’s been going on for some time now… trouble.

Something of a strained relationship between my oldest friend & me.

Take yesterday, for example.

We had a phonecall & in some ways, it seemed (IMO) to be the latest chapter of this longrunning anti-saga.

Until, sometime later, it happened.

My friend mentioned having been emotionally down a while ago.

This info being new/unknown to me, it led to all sorts of wondering on my part.

Which meant that the background feeling of conflict disappeared like an illusion of sorts & left only the important part & that (along with other reasons) makes it go well with a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“Who said it was a kids song?”

Hm, while there’s nothing wrong with that if it were 1, that’s so not the case.

This song has nothing to hide, in fact it’s probably magic.

To the lovers, my friend & me…

From a special place, that was Kermit The Frog – Rainbow Connection.

Mu On Mo #39 – Now It’s Time To Say Good Night

September 24, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

…so, that bad time I went through ?

Going by feelings …still sorta kinda here.

It’s not around as often as before but still intense when it is.

I coped by lots & lots of diversion.

I coped by just letting it be.

I coped by friends.

It was hard to tell them, especially since reactions of total strangers (yes, I bothered those too), while diverse, weren’t all very positive.

Going by what most such others told me, it’s “creepy”, “weird”, “gay”, “pervy”, “worrying”, etc etc etc.

Being judged by other people’s standards when you’re emotionally drowning = not a big help.

Anyhoo, I got by with a lil’ help from my friends.

& since this whole thing’s been (directly & indirectly) about things like friendship & feelings of, I figured I’d use that today & thus end September with a certain song.

A song that not only reflects on such themes but also a song that marks the 4th part of a certain unofficial long running Mu On Mo theme (see Mu On Mu #02, #09 & #27) & a song that got the following (partial) comment on YouTube…

“…but one thing you can’t judge is love…”

I wish that were true, as lots of people have done just that throughout history.

Which is weird cuz love (whether platonic or romantic), is something we all want & all you need.

Enjoy…

From 2003, that was Ringo Starr – Never Without You.

Mu On Mo #35 – The Confession

Ok, let’s do this.

Last week (Monday 20th – Sunday 26) ?

Not very good 😦

I felt… bad, like seriously.

Didn’t eat well, slept worse & I must’ve cried like 16 times O_O

Came verrry close to phoning/e-mailing friends & telling them all about the details pounding my emotions.

However, I did not.

Which is ironic as last week’s Mu On Mo entry was on friendship.

I might still do a reveal of sorts but at the time, I had no idea how to tell them.

Also, I’d hoped it wasn’t as serious (it was).

Or that I’d find enough distraction to let time pass (not really).

Anyhoo, this… “Week From Hell” seems to be at an end (for now ?).

In a way I feel better & in another way, I feel worse.

I’d like to think whatever’s left, that it too shall pass.

Maybe not right away but eventually (?) & since I’ve made it sofar… well, here’s a song about just that, which got the following comment on YouTube…

“Comments are disabled for this video.”

I see.

Maybe no YouTube comments are needed.

I sorta kinda said what I wanted to, except, thanks Reginald & Bernie…

From the 80’s, that was Elton John – I’m Still Standing.

Random day.

Certain place.

Sudden encounter.

Strangers ?

Lots & lots of questions.

Friends !

Sharing ideas.

Telling humour.

Having trust.

In Life, you meet many people.

& out of all of those, without warning, 1 will stand out.

Unfortunately, such a person cannot feel how Happy you are for knowing them.

Thankfully, you can always try to tell them.

So, if you’re reading this… yeah, you’re important to me.

& here’s a song about that, which got the following comment on YouTube…

“growing old sucks.”

I couldn’t disagree more.

For it takes a long time, to grow an old friend.

Enjoy this, it’s for you…

Mu On Mo #13 – Beyond Monkeydom Lies… IV/IV

March 26, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hey hey, we’re The Monkees !

Actually, that’s not true but I really really wanted to begin 1 of these posts with that line & seeing as this is probably the last chance I’ll ever get, I dood it.

Anyhoo, with that part out of the way it’s back to the music.

[Dramatic Narrator Voice]Last time on the Mu On Mo’s comment section… [/Dramatic Narrator Voice]

“Sir Monkey”, my pal on this musical odyssey AKA the simian knight, asked… nay, pleaded with me to leave The Monkees behind us & travel onwards to melodic lands yet unheard.

To which I replied that I needed some sweet precious time to think about it, which has now run out !

Well, after all these days I can honestly type that I still have no idea on how to move forward.

Like in so many of the best of friendships, I guess we’re just stuck, Monkey.

Thankfully, there’s a certain song that goes well with that & which got the following comment on YouTube…

“You can tell this is a primitive music video, I know since I’ve been watching the Monkees a lot, also…

I wanna rip an ear off!”

…just what are the odds of a YouTube comment for a song I only chose for its title mentioning The Monkees ?

They say there’s no coincidence in Life but is this Thé proof that Davy Jones is watching over us ?

As for you, maybe you were meant to enjoy the song…

From the 70’s, that was Stealers Wheel – Stuck In The Middle With You.

Mu On Mo #10 – Fab Four & A Missing “M” I/IV

March 5, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hey hey… it’s the start of a brand-new month & thus a brand-new theme !

Yes, while I didn’t think I’d succeed in finding another 1, thankfully I did & so if all goes well, the next few weeks are now locked into place.

…so, what is the theme you wonder ?

Well, after the whole “Lurve Month”, I started thinking about other types of relationships, namely friendships.

It’s a kind of love but without the smooching (unless there are mutually agreed benefits).

So, “Friendship” & in my case, there’s a specific relationship with a certain someone that I’d like to think fits that type…

& while I’ve known him for some time, I don’t really know that much about him as he usually talks about others.

I am typing of course about my deep & caring relationship with none other than… Sir Monkey !

Now, perhaps you may have noticed but Sir Monkey hasn’t been around the last few Mu On Mo’s even though he said he would.

& seeing as I have no idea where he is or how he’s doing, I can’t help but wonder if he’s alright.

Anyhoo, there’s a certain song that goes well with all those words I just typed, it’s a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“This song is better than anything from 2012!!”

Let’s put these details together, shall we ?

“Fab Four” title + that particular comment + words + friendship = only 1 group.

Yes, it’s them so enjoy the song…

From the trippy 60’s, that was The Monkees – Words.

iDiot App(arently)

December 15, 2011

Ahhh, the holidays !

A time for gathering.

& a time for remembrance.

Keeping alive all those we lost by having warm thoughts, is especially poignant during these cold winter months.

Take Avie Tevanian for example.

He lost a pal earlier this year & since then, he, along with many many others, has been remembering him.

The pal in question ?

Why, none other than…

Steve Jobs !

In a recent BBC docu, Avie remembered Steve as a person who…

“…could convince himself of things that weren’t necessarily true & that always worked with him for designing products, where he could go to people & ask them to do something that they thought was impossible.

& I think he truly thought that through some unconventional means he could cure himself.”

Steve Jobs has been called many things.

Genius & innovator for example.

But also a visionary who focused on the important things.

Which is ironic because as a so-called visionary, Steve Jobs was a pretty big control freak when it came to managing his own company & its products but he had a major blind spot regarding his own health.

Now, if he’d been some lonely unknown guy, nobody would’ve cared because nobody would’ve known.

But this… unwillingness to do that which was needed to maximize his chances to survive his battle with cancer not only disregarded Apple employees, stockholders & loyal consumers but also his friends & family.

Not following the advice of those closest to you during such circumstances & risking certain death… I just don’t get that.

By not doing that which was right for his own longterm health, he not only let all of them down, he let himself down.

An unfortunate truth colder than winter.

Those Misty Water-Coloured Memories Of The Way We Were

October 21, 2011

Now that Libya has adopted democracy by celebrating death in a way that even puts Mexico’s “Dia De Muertos” to shame, it’s official.

Well, I guess “algathafi.org” going offline was sort of a clue but still… official.

Muammar al-Gaddafi AKA The Colonel is dead.

Some of you will no doubt remember that special term of endearment I used for him…

“Crazy Uncle Mo”.

Truly, an affectionate name if there ever was one but was he really crazy ?

Well, that’s debatable & it might just depend on how well he lived his life.

Some people say that the worth of one’s life can be determined by how many close relationships you have.

No, millions of on-line connections like on Facebook don’t count because that’s not real life.

I mean those actual flesh & blood, touchable in realtime, 3-D type of people that you know in your daily life who make it all worthwhile.

So, without further ado, let’s take a walk down memory lane & see all those perfect strangers we encounter as we go through life & end up calling…

…our friends:

Gaddafi Meeting Strangers & Making Friends

…damn, it’s like looking at a gallery of all those who defriended him.

Hm, guess Life really is a lot like Facebook after all.

Totally crazy.

There’s Some Really Sick People In This Town #3

April 18, 2008

Folks, I think I’m losing the battle here.

I really am.

There’s hardly any faith left from me for humanity.

“What happened ?” I hear you ask (although it could just be the voices in my head).

Well, if you really must know…

2 ladies in their seventies “befriended” homeless men only to murder them for money !

😯

Just in case you think I made it all up, here’s the link o’ truth.

B4 X-Mer: Let’s hear it for the boy !

January 27, 2006

Before X-Mer’s New Atlantica Page here on WordPress, there were the early days on “Windows Live Spaces”.

When they closed down, an offer was made to save & move content here.

What follows are some of my earliest attempts at… well… whatever it is I did there so long ago…

No, this is not about the song by whats-her-name. This is about someone I know in real life.

You see, last tuesday he had this reall really really important test. And he succeeded, passed it, made it !

And that makes me happy (along with lots of other folks in his life I suppose).

Once again, well done & congratulations for nailing it dude !

Hear hear indeed !

Well, the unexpecting flow of Life has reared it’s mysterious head once more for me.

Today a friend of mine helped me out in finding 1 of the few Holy Grails I have left. It was a song I didn’t know the singer or title of.

I’m very glad

Thanks pallie, you know who you are !
