Mu On Mo #42 – Post-Illusion Lies The Connection

October 15, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Hello there, I’m half-asleep as I type this but for this week’s entry, I’d like to talk about something personal.

Something that’s been going on for some time now… trouble.

Something of a strained relationship between my oldest friend & me.

Take yesterday, for example.

We had a phonecall & in some ways, it seemed (IMO) to be the latest chapter of this longrunning anti-saga.

Until, sometime later, it happened.

My friend mentioned having been emotionally down a while ago.

This info being new/unknown to me, it led to all sorts of wondering on my part.

Which meant that the background feeling of conflict disappeared like an illusion of sorts & left only the important part & that (along with other reasons) makes it go well with a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“Who said it was a kids song?”

Hm, while there’s nothing wrong with that if it were 1, that’s so not the case.

This song has nothing to hide, in fact it’s probably magic.

To the lovers, my friend & me…

From a special place, that was Kermit The Frog – Rainbow Connection.

Mu On Mo #40 – Minds Immeasurably Superior To Ours

October 1, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

October.

That means 8th month… wait what ?!?

Anyhoo, with this comes the end of Summer & the start of Autumn.

Rainier days.

Darker days.

Colder days.

Streets full of brown/yellow leaves.

Radio broadcasts by Orson Welles telling of fire, death & destruction.

The ensuing panic reminds me of a song that got the following comment on YouTube…

“My mother’s funeral song..

She’s not dead yet, it just makes me think about how much i appreciate her.”

…um, ok.

Normally, I’d advice you to get your mental health checked but kinda busy now.

Hiding from 3-legged alien fighting machines…

From across the gulf of space, that was Justin Hayward – Forever Autumn.

Madness? This… Is… Déjà Vu !!!!!!!!!!

September 19, 2012

*sees news*

*checks calendar*

…November 2011, is that you ???

Either I’ve travelled back in time (without a DeLorean)…

or French mag “Charlie Hebdo” has published Muhammad cartoons, again.

But that’s ok folks, cuz this time things’ll go differently.

Yeah, this time fanatical Muslims’ll change their attitudes.

This time, it won’t be a problem.

This time, it’s ok.

Don’t we already know fanatical extremists are total insecure & immature douchenozzles by now ?!?!?

Doing the same thing over & over again but expecting a different outcome = insanity.

…so, what exactly is the point of publishing the cartoons now ???

It really feels like being stuck in an unending loop of madness…

“Madness ? This. Is. SPARTAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!”

Well, whaddaya know ? It wasn’t déjà vu after all but actual time travel… what a relief… my, you’re muscular…

Re: That Movie… Starring… A Donkey

September 13, 2012

EE AW ! EE AW !

US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, dead cuz of a poorly acted movie… he had nothing to do with ???

Myes… myes… quite the drama. *leans back & strokes chin*

Looking into this matter for a possible post, the whole event seems a bit of a major clusterfuck as far as precise details go.

So much so, that I’m not even sure what to type…

Waaay too many questions surround this, for example… was this attack planned for 9/11 by terrorists ? When/how did the ambassador die ? Is Freedom Of Speech under threat in the Middle East yet again ? Who exactly is this “Sam Bacile” ? Why is the (YouTube) trailer over 13 minutes long ? Will that donkey appear in a Jesus movie next ? Etc.

WELL, THAT LEVEL OF UNCERTAINTY’S NOT GONNA MAKE FOR AN INTERESTING UPDATE, NOW IS IT ? (when in doubt, shout)

Indeed, too bad really.

Oh well, at least I tried, right ?

Hmmm… there is 1 thing I’m wondering about though…

Shrektacular !

Mu On Mo #36 – The Dark Hound Rises

September 3, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Why so serious ?

Let’s put a smile on that face !

There’s an intense scene in “The Dark Knight” where The Joker says those 2 lines.

Well, after last week’s confession of sadness, I figured the opposite was needed.

Something fun !

This in the form of today’s song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“This video is great. I laugh everytime I watch it”

Indeed, so have I.

Major thanks to “AP” for linking me to it.

Why so serious indeed…

From the nonsensical I-net, that was… uh… “Dog” with Batman Theme originally composed by Neal Hefti.

Mu On Mo #34 – Love Your Mates/Pals/Amigos

August 20, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Random day.

Certain place.

Sudden encounter.

Strangers ?

Lots & lots of questions.

Friends !

Sharing ideas.

Telling humour.

Having trust.

In Life, you meet many people.

& out of all of those, without warning, 1 will stand out.

Unfortunately, such a person cannot feel how Happy you are for knowing them.

Thankfully, you can always try to tell them.

So, if you’re reading this… yeah, you’re important to me.

& here’s a song about that, which got the following comment on YouTube…

“growing old sucks.”

I couldn’t disagree more.

For it takes a long time, to grow an old friend.

Enjoy this, it’s for you…

From 1995, that was Randy Newman – You’ve Got A Friend In Me.

Mu On Mo #32 – Ex Mars, Scientia

August 6, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Some hours earlier, I was watching the news.

Then suddenly “Curiosity” was mentioned.

The latest NASA rover to land on the planet Mars.

No small feat.

Despite that, I’d forgotten all about it as it had been traveling through space for months now.

In any case, to commemorate this & other such past achievements some music which got the following comment on YouTube…

“fucken beautiful”

Gotta love those YouTube users.

They have… such a way with words.

Yeah, they’re a form of Life, just not as we know it… anyhoo, enjoy…

From the stars… that was the Star Trek Theme originally composed by Alexander Courage & conducted here by Charles Callelo.

Mu On Mo #31 – NOT The Beach Boys

July 30, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Well, it’s almost over.

July, I mean.

But Summer will still continue on for a little bit.

Sooo, for this 5th & final entry of July, I was thinking that I needed something to reflect that.

Something Summery, something happy.

Something… good.

Which made think of The Beach Boys.

But… that’s kinda expected around this time.

So, I went with another song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“noone likes you”

ORLY ?

Yeah, I see what you did there.

Here’s a big clue, artist name…

A cover of a cover of a song from the 60s, that was Peter Noone – I’m Into Something Good.

Mu On Mo #30 – Summer Remembrance… Of The Dead

July 23, 2012

In light of recent events, a changed entry for this week.

But to soothe the soul, still a tune.

Music On Monday…

It was fun.

Not sure how or why exactly.

But it must’ve been because I’d been chatting for some hours.

It was past midnight, July 20th had started.

Not that I noticed at the time.

Someone suddenly mentioned “Batman madness”.

It had been building for some time.

Anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s 3rd and final chapter of his Batman movie trilogy was high.

Everyone in the chat seemed to agree.

Then one of the people there linked to a breaking news story over at MSNBC.

A link to another kind of madness, an incomprehensible one.

The hours & days since have barely diminished my feelings about this… event & while I currently don’t even know anyone in Aurora, I still wanted to post a song, like the one that got the following comment on YouTube…

“This is just one of those songs that never gets old or forgotten because everyone has at least one memory they can relate to with this song. I love this song! ❤ :')"

The thing is, I’d never heard it before today.

It just came up when I searched for “remembrance songs”.

I liked it, hope you do too…

That was Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends.

In remembrance of the victims of the Aurora cinema shooting.

RIP

Mu On Mo #29 – Summer Tears… Of The Dead

July 16, 2012

With a certain chance of us all living a horrible undeath some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

As you may or may not have noticed, it’s Summer.

& if you haven’t… well, then you’re sense of the passage of time is way off.

Anyhoo, Summer always makes me think of a few things.

Things like women starting to dress in next to nothing & the men who follow them around outside, both ending up with melanoma.

But Summer also reminds me of the Dead.

No, not like zombies but artists who have passed away but had nice songs like the one that got the following comment on YouTube…

“When I listen to something like that I feel sorry for Lady Gaga and all those shitty singers.”

No, don’t feel sorry.

& shed no more tears.

Just enjoy the song…

That was Barbra Streisand & Donna Summer – No More Tears (Enough Is Enough), Donna RIP.

Mu On Mo #28 – Summer Tragedy… Of The Dead

July 9, 2012

With a certain chance of us all living a horrible undeath some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

As you may or may not have noticed, it’s Summer.

& if you haven’t… well, then you’re getting a huge energy bill with that airco of yours.

Anyhoo, Summer always makes me think of a few things.

Things like a barbecue, where after waiting for ages you finally get a flimsy piece of meat that’s half burned to a crisp which causes cancer while the other half’s still raw which causes food poisoning.

But Summer also reminds me of the Dead.

No, not like zombies but artists who have passed away but had nice songs like the one that got the following comment on YouTube…

“The scary thing is that all the people I knew as young are all going, RIP, peace to you all”

A sad fact of growing older, you lose those around you.

It’s always later than you think, so better to do & say the things you want now, while there’s still a chance.

I, for one, say: enjoy…

Co-written with his twin brother Maurice, that was Robin Gibb – Juliet, both RIP.

Mu On Mo #250 – Summer… Of The Dead

July 2, 2012

With a certain chance of us all living a horrible undeath some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

As you may or may not have read in yesterday’s post, it’s Summer.

& if it isn’t… well, then you’re on the wrong side of the planet ?

Anyhoo, Summer always makes me think of a few things.

Things like melting ice cream running over your hands, leaving them all sticky & your shoes ruined.

But also the Dead.

No, not like zombies but artists who have passed away but had nice songs like the one that got the following comment on YouTube…

“True Brothers. A rarity. An understanding of such a term.”

Apparently, they weren’t that brotherly by the end.

Which must’ve been difficult when disaster struck.

Oh well, here comes the sunny tribute…

For his murdered friend John, that was George Harrison – All Those Years Ago, both RIP.

Fun Fun Fun… All Summer Long !

July 1, 2012

Yes, Summer.

I’d nearly forgotten about it.

But despite some days of lesser weather, it IS here.

That time of year when, after all those looong hours at work, you get to leave it all behind you & relax.

& what better way to do that, than to travel someplace new & then… finally unwind ?

Why, I can see the holiday postcard already.

There Is No Ripley, Only Goo !!!

June 12, 2012

& so it came to be that in the apocalyptic year of our Lord, 2012, the movie prequel Alien 0 was released.

Again.

Let us recap, lest we forget these previous examples of xenomorphia prequelis

2004 – Alien Vs Predator

2007 – Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem

2012 – Prometheus

…yes, we’ve been here twice before but this time Sir Ridley Scott will finally do things properly.

For 3rd time’s a charm, right ?

Weeelllll, sorta… kinda… maybe ???

Having seen Prometheus recently, I can say it left an impression.

Which should be good.

But there’s still some questions left, namely…

Whometheus ?

Whatmetheus ??

& Whymetheus ???

Whometheus ?

Well, take the God-finding mission of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, add a recoloured version of the mutagenic ooze from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II & finally the pseudo-scientific ramblings of an average ufologist, last seen in the other prequel Alien Vs Predator & you’re nearly there.

…oh, & also a question-filled script with illogical & sometimes even stupid stuff by (obviously) the co-creator of TV series “Lost”, Damon Lindelof.

Whatmetheus ?

Taking place about 30 years prior to the events of movie Alien (1979), this spin-off prequel attempts to answer that other movie’s 1 fantastically cool mystery… just who or what was the Space Jockey ?

…going by the visuals & the behaviour, I’d say apparently the wet dreams of Adolf Hitler all rolled into 1.

Whymetheus ?

Something I’ve been asking myself because there are no words I can type to describe how utterly disappointing it was… to learn Guillermo Del Toro has apparently abandoned his own movie project At The Mountains Of Madness because of the events depicted in Prometheus.

Why, Damon, WHY ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

*snif*

…wait a second, t-that name of his, Damon…

Daemon ??? 😯

No More Madness

Come Rain Or Shine

June 5, 2012

Tomorrow’s gonna be a special day for 2 people.

Because for better or worse, there’s gonna be a wedding.

& hopefully, there’ll be some good weather but juuust in case…

…I’m gonna try that whole talking-to-a-higher-power-routine.

*ahem*

Uh, are you there ? Do you hear me ? Give us a sign of your powers…

Thor Girl !

Oh, scantily clad cosplayin’ Thor girl, don’t fail us now & keep things dry tomorrow !

Mu On Mo #22 – Heros Divinus, Ex Improviso !

May 28, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Deadline ? Looming !

Results ? None presently !!

Stresslevels ? Through the roof !!!

You know, for something that’s supposed to soothe the soul this current superhero themed Mu On Mo is the exact opposite.

Damn you, billboard.com, damn you for that “article” of yours using not just a handful of superhero songs but fifteen of them.

*sigh* …welcome to this unlikely & sofar not so super 4th part of May’s super Mu On Mo.

Looking back, these past 3 mondays were… inspired to say the least but very very very hard to figure out.

With billboard.com forcing my hand, it’s safe to say the choices I made during the past 3 weeks would have been different.

All that improvising, it’s almost like a continuation of the previous Jazz theme.

But billboard.com or no billboard.com, perhaps this attempt of mine was doomed from the start anyway ?

I mean, don’t all these superhero thingies come in threes, like trilogies & such ?

…hmmm, maybe this is how Christopher Reeve felt after trying his hand at Superman IV: The Quest For Peace ?

Sure could use a little bit of that right now.

Peace of mind that is.

I’ve come sooo far & I’m sooo close, should I… can I give up now ?

3 creative updates in a row, that makes a pretty good run.

Yes… yes, ok… I guess that’s it then.

…WHAT THE HELL AM I TYPING ???

Those bastards at billboard.com are Evil !

I don’t wanna quit, I can’t quit, I won’t quit !!

Ok, if the past 3 updates like The Powerpuff Girls, Sunshine Superman & Beautiful (May)Day were all based on what they didn’t include in their hellish list, then I…

Evil ?

Hellish ??

This has been my darkest hour yet… but it’s always darkest before the dawn… because it’s then, during such darkness, that the light shines the brightest !

Can it be that they forgot about the ultimate superhero ?

So, yet another omission, eh ?

Let’s see… he cannot die, he levitates, has healing powers & a dad more powerful than Odin…. why, it’s PERFECT !

Billboard.com, thy wicked article is cast back into the lake of fire from whence it came from.

But not by me though, no by the superhero standing with me in this battle against your Evil.

A superhero who has had many songs written about him, 1 of which is a vid which got the following comment on YouTube…

“jesus f***ing christ!”

That’s just horrible !

Not because it’s blasphemy but because it’s a spoiler.

Save your soul & enjoy this song about the ultimate superhero…

From the divine 90s, that was Genesis – Jesus He Knows Me.

If Just 1 Person Believes In You…

May 16, 2012

May 16th, 1990.

As bad days go, it was 1 of the bleakest.

But since then to this very day, 22 years later, however sad there’s no darkness… because the music is still playing & the lights are still lit.

Let me use this moment to just say thanks.

Thanks for the worlds filled with crystals, goblin mazes, storytellers, postcard sending uncles, singing chickens, unfunny bears, hard to understand chefs, piano playing dogs, great whatevers, conceited yet vulnerable pigs & also frogs… it’s all such a rainbow connection of which I’m grateful to have found.

& all that, & perhaps more, is still very Inspirational, Celebrational & yes, Muppetational too.

22 Years Later RIP Jim Henson

Jim Henson RIP

Mu On Mo #20 – Dynamic Duo

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Space Ghost ?

El Kabong ??

Super Cow ???

These superheroes are useless !

None of them have any great songs for me to use.

Hello, welcome to the 2nd & probably last part of this Superheroes themed Mu On Mo.

At least the Powerpuff Girls had their own CD full of songs by several artists.

…oh, but what to do next ?

Curse you billboard.com for leaving me with so little to work with, curse youuuuu !

…wait, what’s this ?

Re-reading that damned “article” of theirs, do I spot a blatant clue from a disgruntled music lover in the billboard.com comments section ?

…yes Yes YES, the day is saved !

“15 Sensational Superhero Songs”, eh ?

Ha, more like omission after omission !

But their loss is my gain because it’s a great song & it got the following comment on YouTube…

“I just had a cosmic erection!”

Well, that’s all okey-dokey, peachy keen, fine & dandy but this next song mentions not 1 but 2, count ’em, 2 superheroes !

Oh yeah, billboard.com ain’t got nothing on me.

Enjoy the following super song…

From the super 60s, that was Donovan – Sunshine Superman.
