Madness? This… Is… Déjà Vu !!!!!!!!!!

September 19, 2012

*sees news*

*checks calendar*

…November 2011, is that you ???

Either I’ve travelled back in time (without a DeLorean)…

or French mag “Charlie Hebdo” has published Muhammad cartoons, again.

But that’s ok folks, cuz this time things’ll go differently.

Yeah, this time fanatical Muslims’ll change their attitudes.

This time, it won’t be a problem.

This time, it’s ok.

Don’t we already know fanatical extremists are total insecure & immature douchenozzles by now ?!?!?

Doing the same thing over & over again but expecting a different outcome = insanity.

…so, what exactly is the point of publishing the cartoons now ???

It really feels like being stuck in an unending loop of madness…

“Madness ? This. Is. SPARTAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!”

Well, whaddaya know ? It wasn’t déjà vu after all but actual time travel… what a relief… my, you’re muscular…

Mu On Mo #37 – Nats In Ahgfa

September 10, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Was this really happening ?

Still dealing with emotional fallout of recent events, I got an invite.

It was for a presentation of a new horror comicbook featuring a story drawn by a friend.

It would happen with or without me.

I was supposed to meet up with my friend’s cousin to travel to this event together.

As he & his wife are busy busy busy, he wanted an earlier time than my current sleeping pattern allowed for.

What about what I want ?

So, we agreed I’d phone him ASAP after arriving there on my own.

In the early hours of that day, still awake, I found myself unmotivated to get started in any way.

Maybe I should’ve made an effort & said something.

By the time I arrived, it was 2 in the afternoon.

Unsure where my friend or his presentation was, I began to look around.

Was it always like this ?

The event was in full swing & there were lots of happy people around.

Looking, buying, sitting, eating, laughing, cosplaying, talking people.

Or am I deluding myself into beliefs ?

Despite this chaos of fun, I suddenly had a good idea where my friend might be & so finding him was easy after all.

Sitting behind a table at a booth with his bestie (the writer of this horror comic), he was drawing something.

Was this really happening ?

1 brief convo later, holding a complimentary horror comic in my hand, I mustered up whatever interest I had & looked around the various other booths there.

Suffice to say, I left pretty quickly thereafter & it was then I decided to take a taxicab back home.

The driver, a moustached fellow, was an Afghani somewhere in his late 50s.

About 5 minutes into an uneventful mostly quiet ride, he suddenly turned to me…

“Broken” but understandble, he asked me a question… Thé Question…

“How are you ?”

There was something quite unreal about having a man who’d studied economy, fled his war-torn country & now was trying to make ends meet as a taxi driver ask me such a question.

Which brings me to the song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“To me, this kind of feels like somebody who’s witnessed something horrible, and is trying to make it go away simply by effort of will. ‘I’m not here… This isn’t happening.’ Somebody in denial.”

This isn’t happening.

This isn’t happening.

This isn’t happening.

From 2000, that was Radiohead – How To Disappear Completely.

Mu On Mo #36 – The Dark Hound Rises

September 3, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Why so serious ?

Let’s put a smile on that face !

There’s an intense scene in “The Dark Knight” where The Joker says those 2 lines.

Well, after last week’s confession of sadness, I figured the opposite was needed.

Something fun !

This in the form of today’s song which got the following comment on YouTube…

“This video is great. I laugh everytime I watch it”

Indeed, so have I.

Major thanks to “AP” for linking me to it.

Why so serious indeed…

From the nonsensical I-net, that was… uh… “Dog” with Batman Theme originally composed by Neal Hefti.

Come Rain Or Shine

June 5, 2012

Tomorrow’s gonna be a special day for 2 people.

Because for better or worse, there’s gonna be a wedding.

& hopefully, there’ll be some good weather but juuust in case…

…I’m gonna try that whole talking-to-a-higher-power-routine.

*ahem*

Uh, are you there ? Do you hear me ? Give us a sign of your powers…

Thor Girl !

Oh, scantily clad cosplayin’ Thor girl, don’t fail us now & keep things dry tomorrow !

Mu On Mo #22 – Heros Divinus, Ex Improviso !

May 28, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Deadline ? Looming !

Results ? None presently !!

Stresslevels ? Through the roof !!!

You know, for something that’s supposed to soothe the soul this current superhero themed Mu On Mo is the exact opposite.

Damn you, billboard.com, damn you for that “article” of yours using not just a handful of superhero songs but fifteen of them.

*sigh* …welcome to this unlikely & sofar not so super 4th part of May’s super Mu On Mo.

Looking back, these past 3 mondays were… inspired to say the least but very very very hard to figure out.

With billboard.com forcing my hand, it’s safe to say the choices I made during the past 3 weeks would have been different.

All that improvising, it’s almost like a continuation of the previous Jazz theme.

But billboard.com or no billboard.com, perhaps this attempt of mine was doomed from the start anyway ?

I mean, don’t all these superhero thingies come in threes, like trilogies & such ?

…hmmm, maybe this is how Christopher Reeve felt after trying his hand at Superman IV: The Quest For Peace ?

Sure could use a little bit of that right now.

Peace of mind that is.

I’ve come sooo far & I’m sooo close, should I… can I give up now ?

3 creative updates in a row, that makes a pretty good run.

Yes… yes, ok… I guess that’s it then.

…WHAT THE HELL AM I TYPING ???

Those bastards at billboard.com are Evil !

I don’t wanna quit, I can’t quit, I won’t quit !!

Ok, if the past 3 updates like The Powerpuff Girls, Sunshine Superman & Beautiful (May)Day were all based on what they didn’t include in their hellish list, then I…

Evil ?

Hellish ??

This has been my darkest hour yet… but it’s always darkest before the dawn… because it’s then, during such darkness, that the light shines the brightest !

Can it be that they forgot about the ultimate superhero ?

So, yet another omission, eh ?

Let’s see… he cannot die, he levitates, has healing powers & a dad more powerful than Odin…. why, it’s PERFECT !

Billboard.com, thy wicked article is cast back into the lake of fire from whence it came from.

But not by me though, no by the superhero standing with me in this battle against your Evil.

A superhero who has had many songs written about him, 1 of which is a vid which got the following comment on YouTube…

“jesus f***ing christ!”

That’s just horrible !

Not because it’s blasphemy but because it’s a spoiler.

Save your soul & enjoy this song about the ultimate superhero…

From the divine 90s, that was Genesis – Jesus He Knows Me.

Mu On Mo #21 – Beautiful May

May 21, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Previously: When a music site put up a superhero themed article, it left yours truly very much stuck between a rock & a hard place.

So, what will happen in this week’s episode ?

Stay tuned & find out !

*sigh*

Ok, what if I… no, that won’t work… how about…

Dammit, I got nothing & I need that entry to have an update for this 3rd part of the Superhero themed Mu On Mo.

Oh, who am I kidding ?

It’s over, all thanks to those bastards over at billboard.com

Well, I didn’t even want to do this anyhow after they had that “15 Sensational Superhero Songs” post of theirs, leaving me with nothing to work with.

They used a song about Batman.

One about Iron Man.

& Spider-Ma.. hey, wait a sec !

Is this possible ?

…yet another omission ??

But now not 1 of character but 1 based on… gender ???

Yes, going through that hellish list of theirs, I can see that there are no superheroines !

None at all, a fact which… still doesn’t help me since there are no songs about superheroines (unless you count The Powerpuff Girls).

…damn, so close.

For a split second there, I thought the sun was about to shine on this cloudy day in the month of May.

…you know what, that makes me think of a tribute vid I saw once a looong time ago.

A vid which had a song & it got the following comment on YouTube…

“Well, so long as her stories continue I’ll b happy, but I’m sure she’ll get her own title back. She has become Marvel’s longest running leading female superhero and considering she is a non canon character that is essentially a spin off of the original she has been incredibly succesful, even more succesful than Spidey 2099. I can’t think of another character in her situation who has achieved as much poularity”

…I guess you’re no longer happy then as Marvel cancelled her comic & then permanently retired the character.

Thankfully the writer got to put a nice big red ribbon at the end & she lives on in the hearts & minds of all those that prefer the alternate future where her adventures took place instead of the horribly written present of her father.

Enjoy the following song for a super girl of a heroine…

From the year 2000, that was U2 – Beautiful Day in a nice tribute vid for Peter Parker’s very own daughter, Mayday AKA Spider-Girl.

If Just 1 Person Believes In You…

May 16, 2012

May 16th, 1990.

As bad days go, it was 1 of the bleakest.

But since then to this very day, 22 years later, however sad there’s no darkness… because the music is still playing & the lights are still lit.

Let me use this moment to just say thanks.

Thanks for the worlds filled with crystals, goblin mazes, storytellers, postcard sending uncles, singing chickens, unfunny bears, hard to understand chefs, piano playing dogs, great whatevers, conceited yet vulnerable pigs & also frogs… it’s all such a rainbow connection of which I’m grateful to have found.

& all that, & perhaps more, is still very Inspirational, Celebrational & yes, Muppetational too.

22 Years Later RIP Jim Henson

Mu On Mo #20 – Dynamic Duo

May 14, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Space Ghost ?

El Kabong ??

Super Cow ???

These superheroes are useless !

None of them have any great songs for me to use.

Hello, welcome to the 2nd & probably last part of this Superheroes themed Mu On Mo.

At least the Powerpuff Girls had their own CD full of songs by several artists.

…oh, but what to do next ?

Curse you billboard.com for leaving me with so little to work with, curse youuuuu !

…wait, what’s this ?

Re-reading that damned “article” of theirs, do I spot a blatant clue from a disgruntled music lover in the billboard.com comments section ?

…yes Yes YES, the day is saved !

“15 Sensational Superhero Songs”, eh ?

Ha, more like omission after omission !

But their loss is my gain because it’s a great song & it got the following comment on YouTube…

“I just had a cosmic erection!”

Well, that’s all okey-dokey, peachy keen, fine & dandy but this next song mentions not 1 but 2, count ’em, 2 superheroes !

Oh yeah, billboard.com ain’t got nothing on me.

Enjoy the following super song…

From the super 60s, that was Donovan – Sunshine Superman.

Mu On Mo #19 – The Pink, The Blue & The Green

May 7, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

The Blog Of X-Mer’s New Atlantica Page !

Welcomes you to a new themed Mu On Mo with this month: “Super Heroe… …sorry, what’s that ?

Oh, they did, did they ? I see…

Well well well.

Seems those sons of bitches over at http://www.billboard.com had their own lil’ Mu On Mo (on a thursday !) entry complete with a superhero theme under the title of “15 Sensational Superhero Songs”.

Really ? Oh, gimme a break !

The only plausible reason for this… oh-how-odd occurring “coincidence” is that I am of course the victim… of a mind probe !!!

*dramatic pause to let that shocking bit o’ news sink in*

…yes, those billboarding bastards stole my idea & by using 15 so-called “sensational” songs about superheroes, they made sure I would not be able to do my own without making it seem I was copying them.

Well, I’m not going to take this lying down !

No sir, it’s time for Emergency Plan Zeta-Beta !

…unfortunately, there’s no such plan which means… that I am indeed utterly & truly… defeated !!!

Oh no ! Can this truly be The End for your favourite waste of time (aside from you-know-what, you disgusting perv !) ?

Just how on Earth can this conundrum of a cliffhanger ever be resolved ?? Is that even possible, dear readers ???

Find out next week in the exciting Part II, same X-Mer-Time, same X-Mer-Ch… oh, wait it’s just below this narration…

Yes, there I was… finished, kaput, all washed up & also no web log entry.

But seriously, as I went over my arch foe’s “article” again, I found they’d made… an error !

Not a spelling error or even a grammatical one but rather… an oversight of pint-sized proportions.

Sure, they had listed 15 of the best songs about superheroes.

Or so they thought because there was a grave mistake by way of omission.

An omission that fortunately for me does have some songs, one of which got the following comment on YouTube…

“This song isn’t on Itunes :(”

Awww, too bad but you know what it’s also not on ?

Billboard.com !

But, thanks to YouTube, it IS here…

From “Heroes & Villains”, a great lil’ CD featuring music inspired by superheroine group The Powerpuff Girls, that was (Black Francis AKA) Frank Black – Pray For The Girls.

Mu On Mo #15 – It’s Not Your Tune, Chuck I/IV

April 9, 2012

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Heeello & welcome the 1st part of a new themed Mu On Mo.

I improvised that bit.

‘Cause that’s what this new theme is all about or at least part of it.

You see, a lil’ while ago a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador made an announcement about music & the month of April.

The ambassador ? Why none other than Herbie Hancock.

His announcement ? Starting this year, April 30th will be known as International Jazz Day.

Jazz, it’s a hard to define type of music but the term animated certainly seems to fit its broad range of styles & sensibilities.

But with decades upon decades of countless artists who contributed so much to it, choosing a single song is an undertaking that would probably drive anyone mad.

…thinking about how ol’ Herb himself is (among other things) a jazz pianist & the earlier mentioned defining term, I realized there’s a certain musical piece that goes really well with those 2 things & which got the following comment on YouTube…

“Timeless…..Period”

Couldn’t agree more.

& although it’s become synonymous with a bunch of kids, you don’t have to know them or their history to appreciate it.

Enjoy this jazz standard & to Mr Hancock, happy birthday (on April 12th)…

From the animated 60’s, that was Vince Guaraldi Trio – Linus And Lucy.

Oh, Wonder Of Wonders !

January 11, 2012

Well, I guess in the end it was inevitable.

They’d been doing ok sofar but now it seems the ongoing austerity measures have hit yet another minority group.

& although I’m not in the profession myself, it’s unfortunate as seeing them not being immune to cutting back on spending is somewhat disconcerting.

I am typing of course about superheroines or to be more precise, about their figure hugging costumes.

But don’t take my word for it.

Look…

Wonder Woman Costume Recycled

From an upcoming episode of the TV series “Harry’s Law”, that’s actress Erica Durance dressed up as Wonder Woman.

Does the outfit seem familiar somehow ?

It should as it’s the very same costume from that earlier failed Wonder Woman pilot starring Adrianne Palicki…

Wonder Woman Costume Recycled

Yeaaah, I don’t think the whole world was ever ready for this costume & just when we thought we’d seen the end of it, it comes back to haunt us.

Well, at least they stayed away from the shiny pants.

…this time ?

Hey TV, you had better watch it !

Because Hell hath no fury like a (wonder) woman (costume) scorned.

& it will smite your broadcasts down with Amazonian force !

Striking An Avenging Pose

September 30, 2011

Sometime during 2012, when the world as we it know ends, (yet) another superhero movie will be released.

Currently filming & titled “The Avengers”, this movie will not only feature superheroes like The Incredible Hulk, The Invincible Iron Man & The (…um, patriotic ???) Captain America but will also bring them together to… avenge… something or someone, I guess.

Now, keeping that in mind, it’s funny how this following Entertainment Weekly cover for the movie that’s supposed to bring all these characters together shows they’re not together at all.

The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

With a result like that, why even bother taking a group pic when Photoshop can do it for you ?

In any case, the cast clearly not standing together isn’t really that weird when compared to how their individual poses & facial expressions look & relate to eachother.

Let’s take a closer look…

Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow

Black Widow From The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

Now now Scarlett, we all know you’re angry those nude pics of yours leaked but that’s still no reason to aim your guns at your fellow actors, Robert Downey Jr & Chris Hemsworth.

& speaking of hostage Chris Hemsworth AKA Thor

Thor From The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

What in the name of Odin happened ???

I mean is it just me or has Thor suddenly got a little Kevin Nash/Tyler Mane thing going on & why in heaven’s name ?

Are there no barbers left in Asgard or could this actually somehow be seen as a good look for the character by the executives at Disney ?

Moving on on to Chris Evans as Steve Rogers AKA Captain Avenger America

Captain America From The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

He’s got the super soldier physique, he’s got the costume & he’s got the shield, so why isn’t Steve Rogers looking like he’s got gallons of patriotic heroism oozing out of his pores ?

Captain America ? More like Captain Sad (To-Be-Here-But-I’m-Coping-1-Day-At-A-Time-Thanks-To-Prozac).

Steve Rogers isn’t & shouldn’t be the type that makes you worry about his mental health & I’d type some more but I’m afraid he’ll just start crying & then commit suicide later in the week.

& speaking of mental health, then there’s Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark AKA Iron Man.

Why does Robert Downey Jr look like he’s been arrested for substance abuse (yet again) ?

I mean look at these… & don’t tell me his Iron Man pic doesn’t fit like a glove !

Iron Man From The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

Nothing says heroism quite like the mugshot look.

But seriously, what was the photographer thinking during the shoot ?

& finally, what’s up with Mark Ruffalo as Doctor Bruce Banner ?

As his monstrous alter ego he’s supposed to be “incredible” but as a human being he’s this weakling with serious anger issues & a recurring fondness for durable purple-coloured pants but here that seems different.

Very different even…

Child Molester Man From The MIGHTY Avengers 2012

Maybe that’s supposed to be all dark, broody & mysterious but it comes across more like he’s this escaped mental patient/part-time Russian mobster or something.

Banner used to say “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry !” but now it looks like he’s actually saying “Say a single word & I’ll effing kill you & your entire family ! So, don’t make me kill you. You wouldn’t like me when I’m killing you !”

& why is his shirt purple ? Is this all-new Banner upon transforming into the Hulk going to lose his pants but keep his shirt on instead ???

Amazing how many weird & creepy things can be found in these promo pics & truly, unintentionally funny = the BEST funny.

So, coming in 2012 to a theatre near you…

Those Dysfunctional Avengers !

…& So It Ends (Again) ?

August 31, 2011

With this end of August comes another ending.

Because as of today DC Comics has ceased to be.

Oh sure, the publishing of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc will continue but starting September 1st, the status quo is no more.

Over the past decades, DC has done this several times in very a similar fashion where some sort of major crisis alters reality for the characters.

So, while hardly new… it still pretty much sucks if you wanted to keep on reading stories set in the current version of its (increasingly complicated) continuity.

DC itself means “Detective Comics” but in this instance I think I’ll go with “Don’t Cry”.

Arthur Sad, Batman !

DC Aquaman, DC…

Hey Kids, The All-New DC Comics !

June 22, 2011

& speaking of dogs (see last entry for all the sick details), today Superman #712 went on sale.

Superman comics have been featuring “Grounded”, a way too long a year long story of Superman walking (yes, walking) across the USA.

After its original writer, JMS of “Babylon 5” fame, suddenly left his own bland story there were several delays & even a couple of fill-in issues with replacement stories but with Chris Roberson (the new writer) things improved.

& in the case of today’s #712, I looked forward to reading it.

Why ?

Well, 1st let me show you DC’s solicitation copy for the 712th issue which was released in advance:

“Meet Los Angeles’s newest super hero in the latest Chapter of “Grounded”: Sharif ! But Sharif discovers that in today’s current cultural climate, some people don’t want his help – they just want him gone. Can Superman aid Sharif and quell a prejudiced public, or are there some problems too big even for the Man of Steel to solve ?”

Back when that info was released I didn’t think too much of it.

In fact, I nearly forgot about it.

Flash forward to last month when in the letter page of Superman #711 the cover to #712 was revealed…

Sharif Cover Revealed

Ok, pretty cool.

Sharif + that costume = interest levels going up.

It seemed this was going to be a different type of Superman story & with Chris Roberson writing, there could only be something great ahead.

I mean that’s obviously a Muslim superhero & people are going to hate him for it ???

The drama, the tragedy & the potential – they were all there !

Well, imagine my surprise & I guess everyone elses when the Superman #712 comic that arrived at stores today had the following cover…

Krypto Cover

No, that is not Sharif.

Yes, that is Krypto AKA Superman’s dog.

…WTF ?!? No, seriously WTF ?!?!?

Yes, they changed the cover & they also changed the story.

Last-minute it seems as nothing seemed to point towards this major kind of change.

In fact, “The Source” (DC Comics’ official blog) stated no info on the change but the comic section does feature a weird update of sorts, oddly mixing the original solicit with the new cover…

Mixed Up Solicits

DC recently made it known they were changing their entire universe by renumbering & rebooting or as DC Comics Co-Publishers Jim Lee & Dan DiDio put it:

“DC Comics will be making history this September.”

Sharif, it’s not September yet but you’re history…

Now The World Is Ready For Youuu !

March 30, 2011

Suffering Sappho !

What the Hell happened ?

Did DC, NBC or David E Kelley actually listen to the outcry of the fanboys in comicbook community ???

Wonder Woman 2011

In any case, it looks alot better now.

I guess we’ve seen the last of those evil shiny fetish pants… or have we ?

Only time will tell so stay tuned complaining Wondy fans !

How I Wonder Who You Are

March 19, 2011

Tiara, magical bracelets & Lasso Of Truth ? Check !

Bustier O’ Justice ? Check & double check !

Shiny unnaturally bright looking colours ? Check !

What does that spell out ?

Adrianne Palicki as Diana Prince for the upcoming NBC TV pilot “Wonder Woman” written by David E Kelley or…

Good luck fighting crime & I guess being taken seriously…

RIP

February 23, 2011

About writing Justice League Of America for DC Comics…

I do get frustrated, but it comes with the job. The nature of monthly comics has changed drastically over the past 20 years. JLA used to be THE place to go to see the big guns together, dealing with the gravest threats in the DCU. Now there are several big event crossovers a year, and those titles are where the huge stories happen. So I have to tell stories that feed into and come out of those events. I’d prefer if, as on Justice League Unlimited, I could tell stories that were at the center of the characters lives, but that was a very different circumstance. JLA the comic is part of a larger patchwork, and my mandate is to support the bigger story of the DCU.

A pitch to Marvel Comics regarding the depiction of African American characters…

Proposal By Dwayne McDuffie

The sudden death of such a vocal, honest & talented creator like this is a real loss.

On a personal level, I loved your “Damage Control” concept & the comics you wrote based upon that.

Thanks for those.

Dwayne McDuffie RIP

Fantastic Or Craptastic ?

January 25, 2011

RIP.

Months ago, Disney Marvel Comics let an indifferent world know they were going to kill off 1 of the Fantastic Four in issue 587.

The storyline called “Three” would lead to an event… that would change everything… once again.

I type “once again” because if you’ve ever read comics for a certain period of time, you know that in the universe of comics things are promised but seldom delivered.

In the case of death, several major characters from both Marvel & DC have croaked over the last few decades…

– That redheaded chick from X-Men, she died
– The original illegal alien, Superman, he died
– & even Spider-Man died, several times too

None of these stuck & with each resurrection, the impact of death became non-existent.

All crap aside, current FF writer Jonathan Hichman has done some really terrific work with the 4 imaginauts.

In fact, he planned all of this long in advance & has been building towards this so it’s not meant as some quick cheap shock.

However, members of the FF dying is in itself hardly new.

Sometime back in the 90’s Mr Fantastic, Reed Richards, died at the hands of his archnemesis Dr Doom, then he came back.

A few years ago The Thing, Ben Grimm, was killed off in Mark Waid’s & Mike Wieringo’s run on the title only to be resurrected some issues later.

& more recently The Invisible Woman, Sue Richards, was killed off… sort of… by previous writer Mark Millar.

So, I can’t imagine being that impressed by the tale’s conclusion.

However, I want to have faith in Jonathan Hickman & so I’ve purposely kept away from the I-Net for fear of spoilers.

In fact, it appears that Marvel themselves released the identity of the soon-to-be-deceased earlier this Tuesday.

Anyways, I have the issue in front of me & I’m going to read it & then post if it really lived up to the hype…

*SEVERAL MINUTES LATER… AN UPDATE*

Hm.

Well…

…not bad but not great either.

There was a nice build-up of tension along the way with Reed Vs Galactus in space, Sue Vs Namor underwater & Johnny & a de-powered Ben Vs Annihilus & his army in the Negative Zone.

But the end… it wasn’t all that.

It really wasn’t.

The impact would have been so much greater with not knowing beforehand “Three” would end like this.

Oh well.

Fictional characters or not, I’m sure there’ll be grief & such in the short term but exactly how the death of Johnny Storm will “change everything” in the long term is unclear…

…unless it’s a comeback of H.E.R.B.I.E. ???

H.E.R.B.I.E. Returns

Just When I Thought I Was Out…

December 13, 2010

…Leviathan’s tentacle drags me kicking & screaming back to the darkest corners of the Labyrinth.

Starting March 2011, after more than a 15 year absence, the Hellraiser mythos finally returns to comics by way of BOOM! Studios.

Co-written by Christopher Monfette & none other than the creator of Hellraiser himself, Clive Barker, these tales of Hellish pleasures will no doubt more than make up for the upcoming cheap sequel filmed in 2 weeks time only to retain the rights direct-to-DVD 9th movie…

Leviathan Be Praised !
