Mu On Mo #15 – It’s Not Your Tune, Chuck I/IV

With a certain chance of us all dying a horrible death some time during this apocalyptic year, it’s better to focus elsewhere.

& to soothe the soul, what’s better than a few tunes ?

Here’s some Music On Monday…

Heeello & welcome the 1st part of a new themed Mu On Mo.

I improvised that bit.

‘Cause that’s what this new theme is all about or at least part of it.

You see, a lil’ while ago a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador made an announcement about music & the month of April.

The ambassador ? Why none other than Herbie Hancock.

His announcement ? Starting this year, April 30th will be known as International Jazz Day.

Jazz, it’s a hard to define type of music but the term animated certainly seems to fit its broad range of styles & sensibilities.

But with decades upon decades of countless artists who contributed so much to it, choosing a single song is an undertaking that would probably drive anyone mad.

…thinking about how ol’ Herb himself is (among other things) a jazz pianist & the earlier mentioned defining term, I realized there’s a certain musical piece that goes really well with those 2 things & which got the following comment on YouTube…

Couldn’t agree more.

& although it’s become synonymous with a bunch of kids, you don’t have to know them or their history to appreciate it.

Enjoy this jazz standard & to Mr Hancock, happy birthday (on April 12th)…

From the animated 60’s, that was Vince Guaraldi Trio – Linus And Lucy.

See you another time for more Music On Monday ?

…that’s if we’re still around.
